The AMHB supports Mental Health Week every year (usually during the first week in May) through a provincial theme and campaign developed in collaboration with mental health promotion contacts in the health regions and other partners.

Mental Health Week 2008 – “Minding the Workplace”

Did you know ...

Mental health problems are the leading cause of disability in workplaces across Canada.  Research shows that one in four people in the workplace struggle with a mental health problem.

What does that mean for employers and employees in our country?  Mental health problems result in decreased productivity, increased time off from work, and higher accidents and grievances – all of which affect the bottom line.

That’s why Minding the Workplace was the focus of Mental Health Week 2008 – and why we have launched a resource section on our website dedicated specifically to this area. We encourage you to spend some time on this site. You’ll find helpful resources, interesting facts and tips about how you can make your workplace a mentally and emotionally healthier place to be.
