Mental Health Research Showcase

The Alberta Mental Health Research Showcase continues the tradition of advancing mental health through research. This conference is one-of-a-kind, and has become a pre-eminent Canadian health conference event.

The Showcase brings together mental health consumers, health care providers, researchers, and policy makers, from around the world to Banff each November. The goal is to highlight local and international innovation in order to advance a mental health agenda that supports a responsive system of mental health service provision, research, and policy development to address this pervasive issue. With recent evidence showing that in a 3 year period, one out of three Albertans will be treated for a mental health diagnosis from their doctor, the impact on individuals, families, and communities is immense. Ensuring that research is interconnected with service provision and policy development is foundational to developing an evidence-committed and informed system.

Each year, the Showcase attracts a broad range of individuals with an interest in advancing mental health at various levels and in various settings, including:

  • Service providers
  • Researchers and academics
  • Policy makers
  • Community agency representatives
  • Consumers
  • Administrators
  • Funding agency representatives
  • Members of the business community
