Also a part of Alberta’s initiative to advance the well-being of Alberta’s children and youth, Mental Health First Aid Canada gives teachers, parents, colleagues and other school personnel the skills and information on how to support children and youth showing signs of or experiencing a mental health problem.
The training will focus on promoting mental wellness by establishing MHFA Canada as a resource in every school across the province. With over 35,000 teachers throughout Alberta serving over 550,000 children in over 2,000 schools, the program aims to have at least one person trained in MHFA Canada in every school in Alberta by 2009.
